This handsome fire-striker purse pairs the working steel strike-plate with a leather pouch for flint and tinder, all dressed in decorative metal mounts. Worn at the belt, it was the constant companion of the Khampa traveller of eastern Tibet.
In the 18th to 19th century tradition, the piece is a fine marriage of utility and ornament, and a standout in any display of Tibetan accoutrements.
